Airbus fliegt auf RFID, zumindest geht das aus einem Artikel bei RFIDupdate hervor. So wird berichtet, dass der kanadischen RFID-Anbieter ODINtechnologies eine exklusive Partnerschaft mit dem europäischen Luftfahrtkonzern vereinbart hat. Und offensichtlich scheint Airbus "hochfliegende" Pläne in Sachen RFID zu haben:

Yesterday's announcement specifically addresses the first of a three-phase initiative to realize RFID-enabled visibility in the Airbus supply chain, but the company is also looking at asset tracking and other applications of the technology. "Airbus ultimately wants to provide whatever tagging solutions are beneficial to their customers," explained [ODIN's chief operating officer Bret] Kinsella. Their deployments will consist of both passive and active RFID technology.

Man darf gespannt sein, inwieweit sich diese weitreichenden Pläne auch in Bezug auf die Fluggäste zeigen und die Prozesse an Bord rationalisieren. Schon beim A380 kamen 10.000 RFID-Tags zum Einsatz, die allerdings fast alle unsichtbar sind.
